Hi Isis, and Welcome to SE Wikibooks!

I hope you enjoy writing here. I noticed you started editing the Basic Mathematics book. I've started this book, which is essentially the same, and I would appreciate your help if you are interested. Thanks --Ezra Katz 01:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi and Adminship

Hey Isis. There appears to be a problem here at the simple english Wikibooks. One of the two admins here hasn't edited since 2006, and the other hasn't been here very often. This leaves us without any active admins. I think you should run for adminship along with Ezra Katz and myself. I think Ezra Katz should skip RFA all together and become a bureaucrat so we don't have to go to meta to get admin flags. This would leave us with two active admins (yourself and I) and a local 'crat. What do you think about this? ~ Wikihermit 04:46, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

great. :) --isis 13:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Because we don't have any local bureaucrats we are going to have to make a request at meta for them to make use admins. How long do think we should keep the RFAs up? ~ Wikihermit 13:43, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
We actually do have a local bureaucrat, User:Bastique. I sent a message to him/her a few week ago with no reply. Either of you could try leaving a message of your own. I don't have time now to give a proper reply to all the RfA stuff and I won't be back on wikibooks till later this weekend, at which point I'll throw in my 2 cents. --Ezra Katz 13:59, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
How about three days? If anyone was active here they would see it by then. ~ Wikihermit 14:26, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have left a message on Cary's (user:Bastique) page at commons. ~ Wikihermit 14:46, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I created a template for speedy deletion. The template is {{db|reason for deletion}}. I figure with such as small community we can discuss other deletions (like Wikipedia's AFD) on the article's talk page. ~ Wikihermit 20:50, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have moved my request from adminship down to request for bureaucrat rights. Also, I contacted a steward who said we should leave the RFA/RFB up for 5 days or so. I'm also working on the policies of this page so we can have some order if we get a lot of new users. ~ Wikihermit 21:33, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any harm in moving it to a 'crat request. I just moved mine so we could have at least one user who could sysop users, add bot flags (if we get any bots), and rename users. ~ Wikihermit 21:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yup. :-) We'll just have to go to Meta for sysoping, which is no big deal with a small community. ~ Wikihermit 23:00, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi

Hi Isis. I fixed the Animal Kingdom book so when you search for Animal Kingdom you see the cover right away. PxMa 20:40, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the email. Please check out (and comment on) my comments at Wikibooks:Administrators. As you can see, I tried to answer your question and respond to Ezra all at once. Sorry that it's so long. Like I said there, once we decide what to do on that request, we will know what to do on the others, more or less, I think. I look forward to reading your comments. Happy editing! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 22:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi!

Hi, Isis :), um, does this mean my article is going to be deleted? I'm still new, and I can't tell the difference between wikibooks and a library catalog  :). Thanks, Isis! --Jessica 20:11, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the 411, Isis! --Jessica 02:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Idiomatic phrases

Hey Isis, I don't think that that anon edit to English/Idiomatic Phrases was a test edit/vandalism, because it was actually an idiomatic phrase. I think that the person was trying to help out but didn't know how. I put a welcome on their page and hopefully they'll come back to find out more. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 23:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Jessica

What tells you that this is the same user? As long as a user doesn't vandalize or break other rules here, we shouldn't ban or block him/her. Also, a sockpuppet is when a user has more than one account on a particular wiki and uses it deceptively: to influence arguments (acting like consensus) or to vote more than once, etc. If this is the user's only account here, it is not a sockpuppet, even if it might be on other wikis. If it is a sockpuppet here, however, let me know the other username(s), etc., and we'll see what we should do about it. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 00:53, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is she using it as a sockpuppet here? Kimberly Ashton isn't a user here. If the same user wants to call herself/himself "Jessica" here and plays by the rules, we don't have any reason to block her/him, even if she/he has had problems on other wikis, wouldn't you agree? Blocking should rarely be used to prevent something that may never happen, and usually used to stop someone who has shown himself/herself as untrustworthy. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 20:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I blocked this user, but if he/she comes back, he/she will find that I left a message to email me if what you're saying is mistaken. I don't think he/she will. I'm just trying to be fair here, but I did go ahead and block him/her. Thanks for the email. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 01:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would only get angry with you if I thought you had knowingly given me misinformation. I don't see that happening, so even if it is a mistake, my anger is probably the last thing you need to worry about.  :) --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 21:11, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deleting history

Hi Isis. Sorry, I don't even know how to remove something like that (especially without removing the comment/change itself). Someone would have to be looking for your IP address in particular to actually find it, and there are a lot of other IPs which are easier to find. Maybe "undo" would do the job by itself. Let me know what you think. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 18:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikihermit is right. Then my comment can be re-added to the page without my ip's history. But,really, it doesn't matter all that much. I just feel a little safer. --Isis 23:15, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

You're welcome :)--Werdan7 20:53, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merger with en.wikibooks

We've started a discussion here: Wikibooks:Simple_talk#Merge_this_project_with_en.wikibooks.3F. This is about merging SE wikibooks into the EN wikibooks. There are a number of reasons for this, which I think are mostly enumerated in that discussion.

I would really like to get input from as many active members here as possible before anybody does anything. It's not my intention for this to be hostile or forced in anyway: the SE wikibooks community has every right to decline this offer and continue business as normal. I that both our communities would benefit from this merger, and I sincerely hope that the members here take it under consideration. --Whiteknight 01:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
